On 2nd April 2019, at around 7 pm, near Birla Hostel, Gaurav Singh, a student of M. C. A. was shot in the stomach. Ten rounds were fired of which three hit his stomach. He was admitted to the Trauma Centre when he died at 1:30 am that night. There has been a severe increase in the instances of cases of violence inside Banaras Hindu University. This time the situation has gone out of hands.
The administration of the university is largely responsible because of their neglect towards student related concerns as well as an encouragement of violence.
Because of the above reasons, there is immediate need to boycott classes inside BHU until there is a decision in favour of the victim as well as a need to spread news about the same.
